The Reliquary – An Original Screenplay

poster_1_v2The Reliquary is an historical thriller set in NYC, with a plot that thrills like an intricate mystery while shocking you about the dangers of the plague as it exists today. An amateur genealogist uncovers an old relic, retrieved from his ancestor grave which contains a deadly batch of bubonic plague.

Professor David Duprey, our protagonist, is faced with disastrous problems when his son is infected with this mutated, incurable plague and the bacteria falls into the clutches of a terrorist sleeper cell. They are planning to use the germs in their biological warfare against the Schoharie Reservoir, the main source for the Catskill Aqueduct, feeding NYC.

David’s relationship with his son is redefined when Joshua faces death and he discovers love in an unlikely encounter with Clare, the research genealogist at NYC Public Library.

David discovers that a new genetic splicing technique called CRISPR- Cas9 could be used to possibly to save his son and he and Clare sets about preparing the suitable genetic sequence to insert into his son’s DNA sequence rendering immunity.

Meanwhile the terrorist cell, tipped off to the presence of the pathogens, search desperately for its whereabouts. David’s life is thrown into turmoil as he must deal with a deadly ill son, rampaging terrorists, an upset university head and the National Security Agency breathing down his neck. David and Clare are called upon to save the day through a very dramatic fire-fight at the very reservoir they are about to attack.
